INESC MN operates a Class 100 cleanroom and adjoining Class 10,000 grey area for magnetic recording head and MR sensor fabrication, thin film semiconductor device and MEMS processing, biosensor and lab-on-chip fabrication including microfluidics.
Materials and device fabrication, characterization and packaging is offered as service for both Portuguese and International research institutes and companies.
CQFM offers scientific and technical services to both the academic and industrial community. Our facilities hold advanced methods of physical, chemical and microstructure characterization of materials and sample preparation under controlled conditions. Examples of available techniques: Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Flash-Photolysis, Confocal/Multiphoton Laser Scanning Fluorescence Microscopy, Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy, Dielectric Relaxation, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, AFM, Dynamic and Static Light Scattering, Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis, GPC-MALS, XPS, HREELS, FTIR and RAIRS.
Fabrication and characterization of micro/nano-materials (IFIMUP)
The research at IFIMUP is supported by a diversified set of experimental techniques for fabrication and characterization of the micro/nano materials. The materials processing facilities provide equipment for research and development on the processing of magnetic and multiferroic materials at the micro/nanoscopic scale for multifunctional applications. Furthermore, our laboratory offers to the users a detailed characterization on: Ferromagnetic resonance spectroscopy, Pump-probe Magneto-optic, Resistance, Magnetoresistance, Seebeck effect, Hall effect, Specific heat, Differential scanning calorimetry, Magnetization, Susceptibility, Complex electric susceptibility, Pyroelectric effect, Piezoelectric resonance, Moke-Kerr effect, Magnetic imagiology and Magnetoresistance under high magnetic fields (H>25T).
